Event Description

SOCA is holding a one day conference in Glasgow on Saturday 23rd April on ‘Opencast restoration: how can we make it happen?’

The emphasis will be on communities learning from each other and on seeking solutions to the ongoing opencast restoration crisis when the coal industry is in terminal decline and neither UK, Scottish nor local governments have delivered on proper restoration of opencast mines.

The venue will be The Lighthouse, off Buchanan Street in Glasgow.  Speakers will include Professor Russel Griggs, Chair of the Scottish Mines Restoration Trust.

Further details of speakers and programme will be posted here shortly.
